Artist Description
Jim Shannon has gained the attention of the music world through his mastery of the Guitar and his reflective approach to music, recording and composition. Jim attended the University of North Texas, and was a member of the renowned 1:00 Lab Band under Leon Breeden. His work in jazz clubs paid his way through college and was a major factor in his musical development. Jim has performed with the Les Elgart Orchestra, Hank Crawford, Billy Hart, Ed Soph, David "Fathead" Newman, saxophonists Lee Konitz and Mack Goldsbury, among others. Shannon has given concerts and clinics at the University of North Texas, Weatherford College, El Centro College, Brookhaven College, San Angelo Jazz Festival, Oklahoma Charlie Christian Jazz Festival as well as other colleges and schools.

Jim is currently Professor of music and teaches Jazz and Classical guitar plus Jazz Improvisation at Brookhaven College and El Centro College in Dallas, Texas.

Jim Shannon Solo Guitar

Jim Shannon and Trio Alado

Jim Shannon and Trio Alado is more than a Trio. It consists of guitar, bass, drums, vibes and vocals. The music of Trio Alado is exciting, yet subtle and enticing. It has the essence of swing, jazz, blues, Brazilian and contemporary music, plus Jim's exciting original compositions. Jim uses both electric and acoustic guitar with this group. The trio is always well received with enthusiasm at a wide range of concerts and events. Extra instruments are sometimes added such as percussion and keyboard.
