Artist Description
World-class Jazz, Blues, R&B singer. Started her musical career in Grenada. In the 1970's moved to England and performed with groups such as the Eruptions and the Cool Notes. In 1978 moved to Italy and signed with RCA. as part of a girl group Les Streghe. Upon breakup, she continued as a noted session singer within the Italian music circuit. In 1983 she moved to New York and performed alongside pianist Barry Harris and other NY jazz artists. In 1986 Ms. Mitchell was featured at Cortina Music Festival and San Remo Jazz Festival in Italy and in 1988 at the Milan CapoLinea Jazz Festival in octet alongside the noted pianist/drummer Luigi Bonafede. She then toured with top European jazz artists for the next five years. 1991 marks her return to England where she regularly appeared live on London Jazz Radio Show 102.2 FM and the Bass Clef Club. Currently residing in Coconut Creek, FL Ms. Mitchell maintains busy schedule performing in South Florida and the Caribbean: including Antigua Jazz Festival, St. Lucia Jazz Festival, and Trinidad. Ms. Mitchell believes jazz is the ultimate form of musical expression and proves it with her voice.
